The 2010
Vaccination Challenge!
Big Heart Rescue is thrilled to announce that we will be heading to
Bella Coola on May 7th and 8th to conduct our 2nd Animal
Wellness Clinic in this community!
Because of your support in 2009 our team of vets, vet tech's and other
volunteers examined, vaccinated, de-wormed, "de-fleaed"
and provided minor wound care to 241 companion animals during
last year's exciting two day event and we
are once again looking for your support for the
2010 Vaccination Challenge.
Every $14.00 donated allows us to
vaccinate one companion animal and this means that you personally have
helped to save a innocent soul from the horrific diseases of Parvo and
Distemper. These diseases take far too many lives and cause needless
suffering and death.
Will you help to save a life
by donating $14.00 for a vaccination?
You can
make a difference!
Your invaluable donation can be made via PayPal, Canada Helps, Cheque
or Money Order with instructions located on the
Donations page of this website.
In Loving
Memory of Baby Ella
who died of both Distemper and
Parvo

Have A Heart
Necklaces

Big Heart Rescue extends
our heart-felt
thanks to Lorna Potts, Gabriola Island artist. Lorna
has generously given
her time and her talent to create these amazing necklaces for
us to use for fundraising,
all because of her desire to see animals in desperate need of
care receive the help they so deserve.
The Hearts have been hand crafted,
set into individually designed glass pieces and then kiln fired into
beautiful art necklaces. Every piece is unique yet every piece so
lovingly represents the innocent ‘hearts’ of those souls that are
taken into our care for another chance at life.
If you would like to open your
'heart' and help provide a 'soft place to land' for those in need you
can purchase one of these original art necklaces at Big Heart Rescue
fundraising events for $20.

Big Hearts in
Bella Bella
Two animal aid agencies combine forces
to help dogs in a remote Canadian town
By Connie Wilson | Photographed by Jeremiah
Armstrong
Modern Dog Magazine, Feb 2010

It’s funny that one telephone call can lead
to a shift in perception, but that’s what recently happened to me when I
received a call from Toronto’s Michelle Cliffe of the World Society for
Protection of Animals (WSPA). We set up a meeting and, over a cup of coffee,
Cliffe told me about the invaluable animal welfare work that WSPA instigates
worldwide, and of her particular enthusiasm for a project they were about to
undertake: assisting Big Heart Rescue with an animal wellness clinic in the
northerly First Nations community of Bella Bella. She suggested I join them. On
impulse, I found myself on a plane the next day along with Cliffe and Josie
Kitson, also from WSPA, as well as photographer Jeremiah Armstrong, bound for
the picturesque and remote community of Bella Bella. <
