Ben !
(Male,
6-8 yrs, 80 lbs)
To
know him for just a few minutes is to love him. Its July 8, 2008 and Darling Ben
is still with us at Big Heart. Big ol’ tough me will cry a little when the right
family adopts him. Do you love Rottweilers? Don’t have
the time or energy that a dog of this stature needs? Ben may be right for you.
Read on!
Darling Ben was kept as an outside dog all of his life and suffers from hip dysplasia on the left side, a swollen right knee and a lump on his mouth. We put his age at 6-8 years.
He
has been in the care of Big Heart Rescue and his medical and physical rehab has
progressed well.
Ben has attended swim therapy to help with his dysplasia and to tone up some of his muscle. He is currently fostered with a 60’s active couple who continue to help him maintain his health and he is doing very well.
This stunning boy is a friend to all!! He loves dogs and humans, including children, are his best friend. He is a stable, all around solid boy who is looking for a family to love him forever. He forms attachments very quickly which will insure he easily becomes an integral part of his forever home. He has demonstrated that he is very well socialized and easy to handle to spite his size. However a handler must be aware he has a fascination for cats and will give chase.
Right
now Ben weighs in at 80 pounds and is close to his ideal weight. He is
vaccinated, micro chipped, de-wormed and de-flead.
If you would love a special friend to join your family please drop Gail a note at spiritsmission@shaw.ca
Ben is really doing great!
Ben is walked, not run, on a nice brisk outing 2 times per day. He loves the car, is seat belt harness trained and just loves the ride. He is so well behaved he can be taken anywhere dogs are allowed.
He has taken water therapy lessons with Kendall, owner/operator of Abbotsford's very own K9H2O
Kendall graciously provided six free sessions for Ben to begin his medical rehabilitation and you can tell by the fantastic pictures that Ben is thinking this is much easier than walking on a treadmill ! !
A huge thank you to K9H2O for being there to support Ben as he works hard on starting his new life as pain free as possible.

Ben requires someone home most of the time,
a secure fenced yard and a family who will give him the love he so deserves. Ben
would prefer a home without cats as he thinks they are very interesting.
Update:
17 August
The Big Heart Team has been receiving letter's from Ben while he is enjoying his summer holidays with his foster family down in Birch Bay!
As you can see from the beautiful photo Ben is doing FANTASTIC and loving life more than ever.
Ben's notes are filled with stories of days at the beach, meeting new dogs and people, spending time hanging out and just chilling on the deck. He can't say enough wonderful things about his foster family yet he does wonder where his new adoptive family is.
While he waits for them to come and find him, his life is filled with all the love and happiness that every single companion could ask for.

October
Hi everyone,
I just wanted you to know that my wonderful foster parents took me on yet another holiday, this time to see the snow!
Wow, we had a great time and as you can see my beautiful coat just shines through with the white background.
I am told over and over again that I am such a good boy and yet I still can't find a family to call my own. I just don't understand it but maybe I will be sitting in front of their fire place before Christmas comes!
Please let Gail know if you are interested
in adopting me by sending her a note at
spiritsmission@shaw.ca
Love,
Ben
Update: April 11
Hello, it's Ben again. I am just giving you an update. If you are looking for a good ol' guy to adopt I am here at Big Heart Rescue being looked after by my foster family John and Joan. I don't know my real age so I am guessing 9 or 10 and I weigh 80 lbs. I am not an active dog but I am always ready for a nice walk. I am very well behaved and like just about all animals and people including children. I love to go for car rides. I even went all the way to Palm Springs this winter. There are so many dogs like me waiting for a forever home. If you are looking for a mature large dog I am the right guy for you. I have so much love to give. I am just waiting for the right family to come along.
Note: Big Heart Rescue adopts within a two hour drive of the lower mainland and Vancouver/Gulf Islands only
