Dog's Best Friend
Performance Magazine, Sept/Oct 2006 vol 21 no.5

Companion animals of the Lower Mainland ,Vancouver  Island and the rural communities near Bella Bella BC , have found a friend in letter carrier Sandy Robb.

She has turned her compassion for animals into an active hobby and is now a director for Big Heart Rescue Society.

" A lot of pets the group supports are in need of medical care, or a new loving  home . The group fundraises to pay for the veterinary bills and the costs associated with finding suitable homes for the pets that need guardians to love them," Sandy explains. "Also , owners in the communities we work with who cannot afford to have their pets  spayed or neutered can find financial relief  with Big Hearts."

"We rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals that need us," Robb says. "The main thing is that they find a perfect  match and families that treat them like  gold."

Robb has been involved with the Big Heart Rescue Society for the past two years and says it has been a thoroughlyrewarding endeavour. "Helping the animals is number  one , but it's also  about helping the community ." So far this year , the registered non-profit organization has been responsible for 32 adoptions  and 27 'spay and returns' to Bella Bella and surrounding areas and Robb says she hopes this excellent  track record will continue with community support." I cannot say enough great things about this group."
