Corbin !
(Male, 7 - 8 yrs, med-large)

Please note that this is a courtesy post only. Contact New Westminster Animal Control Services at 604-519-2008 for more information.

Corbin is 7 or 8 years old; no medical issues that we know of; no children please (he had an issue over a toy; and bit); the foster parent feels they could have handled his obsessive issues if they didn’t have a child. Best guess is that he generally does not want any trouble but probably one of those dogs that has never had to conform to any boundaries and has made his own judgements.

He’s having a very difficult time at the shelter but we really believe his behaviour is stress related; he is sooo stressed and desperately needs to find his own family. His former foster parent said he is very good on leash when they were walking him.

A strong leader is required to help Corbin transition into a new life where he can take advantage of training classes and be the apple of a families eye.

Corbin is a handsome fellow and without doubt he will be a stellar boy within a few months, after adoption.

Update from Corbin's Trainer:

Corbin is a great dog and is ready to go home! His training has taken him from a reactive, fearful dog to a dog who is looking for fun and direction. He offers you his attention and waits for instructions.

We worked on leash today. Because of his stay at the shelter, he was a bit hesitant to leave the fenced area but once away, he took everything in. During our exercise, he continued to offer his attention and came when called. He no longer avoids touch and really enjoys gentle massage on his ears and tummy.

He is a very handsome dog with light brown eyes and sparkling teeth. Although his pictures make him appear to be a large dog, I think he's about 50-60 lbs. He appears to smile when he's having fun and that's usually when he's got company and doing good things. He will require a home that includes him in family activities and continues to work with him as part of a team with socialization.

One hour of free training is available for the adopter and can be accessed through New Westminster Animal Control.
