Look at Me Now
Harley
Harley was a very sick boy who was found as a neglected stray in Chilliwack. The kind employee's at Chilliwack Animal Control called Big Heart Rescue to see if we could help and we did! Harley's foster Mom is a huge blessing to Big Heart Rescue and kindly agreed to love this boy until he found his new family and all we can say is LOOK AT HIM NOW!
At start of care...
Now !A note from Harley/Cyrano:
Hi! My mom said that I should let you know how I'm doing these days. First of all, my name isn;t Harley anymore. We decided that I should be Cyrano now!
I overheard Mom tell someone I was a rescue dog, but that's weird, because I could swear I've been with these guys forever, sleeping on John's bed with him, going on hikes, hanging out with my cat and horse. We just have lots of fun everyday, and when we're not doing what I most want (chasing sticks and being busy outside or going on adventures), it's really easy to just be quiet with everyone inside.
Mom also said I had skin and weight problems. Again, weird, because all I know is that I eat regular food and don't need any yucky pills or stuff. My vet says I should even eat less, because at 100 lbs I'm at my limits. And I love having my beautiful coat brushed.
Anyway, all's good with me. Mom takes me around town and on trails a lot, because she wants to "socialize" me. I like meeting other dogs. One of my best friends is a mop called Barney that lives down the street. Most dogs are a bit of a bother though, and I lose interest pretty quick. Once we followed a trail with a goofy Boxer that wouldn't leave me alone. I tried to be patient, but then when I offered a little more growl, he seemed to get it. Mom says people can be apprehensive of me so I have to learn to be perfect under her control. Sometimes I lose my focus a bit (gee, I'm only ever a few yards from her -- I don't like to get too far) and don't quite do what she wants, so she keeps doing training stuff. I'm getting really good at "wait," I think. Mom says she likes that when I'm ahead on a trail. Oh -- and I guess I'm not supposed to keep barking when visitors come to the house, and that's really hard for me to stop. I kind of look sideways at Mom when I'm doing it, and I can tell she doesn't approve, but it's so hard to restrain myself! Everyone in my family gets all over me with praise when I only bark a short warning; okay okay, I guess they don't need me to do anything more than that, but it feels good to bark!
Dan is awesome. He might be the best dog person here! He likes to slip me biscuits, and he's the guy with the truck, and he likes to give me little quiet talks. And Anna and John and I play a game in the forest where John hides and I find him. It is so so fun. I play driveway hockey sometimes, but I sometimes like to hide the balls after I catch them.
Mom tells me you guys were in big time on that rescue thing, and you know, I guess when I think about it, I get all warm and fuzzy thinking about some place and a woman who was my Foster Mom.
So thanks, and bye for now! Love, Cyrano (aka Harley)
