Bella !
No
puppy should suffer at the hands of another the way Baby Bella has! Sadly, the
hands that abused and broke this little body belong to a child, a child who
focused anger and rage on an innocent soul.
Bella was rushed into the arms of Big Heart Rescue and under went surgery yesterday for massive internal injuries. Her bladder was found to be protruding into her abdominal wall and she also has a broken pelvis.
Update: July 29
Bella has now had her second set of x-rays and so far her bladder is holding in place which is a very positive sign. There is less blood in her urine and she is attempting to squat when she has to do her "business". Squatting is a challenge with a broken pelvis but this little warrior is proving to everyone that she has the will and determination to make it.

Further x-rays will be taken on Monday to see how her damaged pelvis is doing and if the bladder is remaining attached. At this time Bella remains on crate rest for most of the day but does get some gentle play time with her big beautiful fur sister who is teaching her excellent socialization skills.
Additional updates to come as we progress, day by day. Please send your healing thoughts out to Baby Bella as she struggles to survive.
Update: Aug. 24
Bella
has had dye injected into her bladder and the lining appears to be healing well.
She has begun to use "pee pads" for house training, is eating up a storm and the
cat of the house is not so sure that puppies are a great thing!
This little girl now weighs around 12 pounds, is approximately 11 weeks of age and she has no idea that she is anything but a healthy, happy go lucky puppy!
Bella will require pelvis surgery in approximately 3 months and then there will be a period of rehab time while she heals and regains her strength.
The
lucky family that adopts this outgoing pup will work together with Big Heart
Rescue on her medical plan and what support will be available to help off-set
the cost of the future surgery.
If you are looking for a puppy that is full of life, has a ton of energy, who is a true survivor and has a strong will please send Gail an e-mail at spiritsmission@shaw.ca to request an adoption application.
Update: 30 Aug
Congratulations to the most amazing family who have adopted Baby Bella and brought her home to share many years of amazing moments together!
One of the nicest things is that Bella's new Mom is a vet, so all her medical needs will be taken care of and watched over closely.
Thank you for knowing that this was the right little soul to join your "pack"!
