Cleo !

Cleo is a beautiful 18 month old golden retriever cross who is living with her foster Mom in Bella Bella until Big Heart Rescue has an opening for her on Vancouver Island or the lower mainland.

This girl is a perfect companion for any family that has children or another dog (she is untested with cats) because she is a social butterfly who loves everyone!

Because Cleo has been kept as an outdoor only dog, her foster Mom is working hard on her house training and this is coming along.

Cleo will require a secure fence, someone who is home the majority of the day and who will be committed to taking her to training classes. Are you the family that Cleo has been waiting for?

A note from Cleo's foster Mom:

Cleo is a tall, slim Golden Retriever Mix dog with golden eyes and a sweet personality.

She was taken into Big heart Rescues' care after multiple reports of her being abandoned by her family and left to wander and starve. When she was taken in it was found she had a wound on one of her forelegs and she was extremely skinny.

Cleo has been very patient with our attempts to dress the wound and in only a few days she has stopped limping and already seems to be gaining weight.

She is not fully house trained as she was an outside dog but she is being trained and seems to be catching on quickly.

She is also learning to sit and wait before rushing out the front door or the car!

Cleo loves to swim and is an energetic dog that will need lots of exercise. She likes to sit on the feet of her foster mom, having her belly rubbed and being brushed . She gets along very well with the other dog in the home although she does wish all the toys in the house could belong to her!

Cleo would fit in well in an environment where she can go out and explore with her family. People who like to hike and live near water would be ideal. She is a wonderful girl and would be a great addition to a family that will take the time to train her and show her the love that she craves!

Sweet Cleo has finally made her way down to the lower mainland and into her new foster Mom's arms!

This is what her new foster Mom has to say about Cleo:

Miss Cleo is such an adventuresome soul that loves the off leash outings in the forest. She is an affectionate charmer. She comes up to you in the house if she needs some strokes and likes to be fairly close to you but just lies down wherever you are.

Cleo is great off leash as she never strays far and if she's gone up ahead on the mountain she comes running back to check in with you just to make sure you are coming in the same direction. At night she sleeps peacefully by my bed and hasn't even tried to jump up on it (yet).

She is very social with all other dogs, loves laying in creeks, swims and will run with a stick in her mouth so other dogs will chase her.

Breakfast and dinner are looked forward to and she's a tidy eater. A great traveller that jumps eagerly into the vehicle knowing we are going on a field trip.

Cleo will fit in with your family very quickly as she is a quick adapter.
