Dory !

Darling Dory is a 8 month old lab - husky mix who is currently living in Bella Bella with her foster Mom as she awaits transport down to the arms of Big Heart Rescue.

This is what Dory's foster Mom has to say about this big bouncing baby;

Dory is a mixed something something...am not quite sure what, but she loves fetch, loves water and is a people pleaser.  I have only had her for two days but have seen her several times around town.  Her owners relinquished Dory to the streets when they no longer wanted her, and she was brought to my house on Friday night.  She is not overly rambunctious, despite still being a puppy, but is puppyish in ways - just bring out a ball and she falls to pieces! Although she will be a medium-large, she will be an indoors dog - she has adapted surprisingly quick to the indoors and has no desire to return to the street/outdoor life.  She has not made one mess in my house since being here, and slept overnight for 11 hours without an accident.  She is not a chewer when she's been left alone, although I have seen her carry off a shoe so I think the potential for her to get into the odd thing does exist, but some discipline combined with bitter apple spray will solve that pretty fast.

She is not aggressive in any shape or form, and I have tested her with her food and toys.  She is currently living with a very patient cat and, although curious, does not seem overly interested and, again, is not aggressive.  She does bark when someone comes to the door or when she sees another dog outside - she has a big bark but that's where the buck stops.  She will give a throaty growl when she wants to play, but again it is more of an attention getter as she wants you to grab the ball or kong from her mouth and throw it.

She is good off-leash and does not stray far.  She likes her walks but will not be a runner - she's a heavier build and is built for pleasure, not speed.  I can promise whoever takes her that she will be one of those faithful, good old family dogs who has a gentle soul and a big heart.

If you are home the vast majority of the time, have a securely fenced yard and want to meet your best friend, please send an e-mail request for an adoption application to spiritsmission@shaw.ca
