Frankie!

Frankie is a one year old lab x who was hit by a car in Bella Bella and left to fend on his own for approximately one month before Big Heart Rescue was notified. This shy, sweet boy requires hip surgery and though our organizations finances are stretched to the limit, our mandate is to help those in need and Frankie will undergo his surgery within the next few days.

Look for more updates on Frankie's progress as the days go by.

Update: Sept 20th

The team at Critical Care have reviewed Frankie's x-rays and it has been determined he is in desperate need of hip replacement surgery to ensure he has an excellent quality of life.

Frankie's surgery will cost approximately $5000.00 and Big Heart Rescue is hoping sponsors will donate to help support this very sweet gentle soul.

Sweet Frankie has waited so long to feel healthy again and we have made him a promise that we will do all that we can to make that happen.

Update: October

While in the care of his loving foster home Frankie continues to gain strength and learn that humans can be loving and caring souls.

This determined young man will have hip replacement surgery on October 24th and while he will experience a long recovery period the team at Critical Care feel he has a wonderful future in front of him!

Thank you for all the support Frankie has received and donations are still  gratefully accepted to help off set the massive costs associated with his surgery and recovery.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Update: October 14th

Frankie will have his hip replacement surgery on October 24th and will then begin his recovery so he can once again run and play like all his other canine friends!

His amazing foster Mom has been providing him with tons of love and supplements so he can feel comfortable post surgery and be as strong as possible for his future life that will be filled with nothing but swims in the lake, walks on the beach, camping trips and big raw bones to chew on!

Update: October 26th

Frankie is now through his surgery and while it was a little more complicated than first thought he has come through like the trooper he is!

His loving foster Mom awaits his return in the next few days and then Frankie can begin the process of rehabilitation and therapy to assist him on his way to a happy and healthy future.

From the bottom of our hearts a huge thank you goes out to all who have and continue to support this amazing young dog.

Update: November 5

Frankie is now home after his surgery and is getting the much needed love and attention he deserves.

His foster Mom is finding it difficult to contain his enthusiasm because all he wants to do is play, which of course at this time in his treatment is not allowed.

In a few  weeks Frankie will begin to take short walks to regain his strength and develop his muscle mass.

Thank you to everyone who has sent their love and support to Frankie and please share the word that he will be looking for his perfect match in a new family within a month or so.

Update: November 16th

Its time for Frankie to find a family to call his own, are you the family he is looking for?

Update from Frankie's foster Mom,

Frankie is doing extremely well. He wants to play with every dog, but of course but we must still limit his play time while he is recovering.

Frankie shows how happy he is by smiling...yes, great big smiles come from this boy who is now a happy go lucky fellow, just wishing he could play even more than he should!

This boy is a quick learner. Some of the words/phrases he knows include: sit, lie down, shake a paw, shake (his body before coming in from the rain), lift (a paw to be dried), sit & stay (at a corner before crossing a street), catch (a treat - he's an excellent catcher!), up, down (stairs), slow (when going up or down stairs, or being walked), watch me.

Frankie's hair is growing back slowly. He now eats about 5 cups a day plus lots of treats. When he first arrived, he barely ate a thing. He goes into the crate easily when he knows it's quiet time.

Update: December 2nd

Congratulations Frankie on finding a family that will love you forever!
