Jerry !

Just before Christmas BHR discovered that Parvo-Virus was present on an isolated northern island. Call after call was made to find the litter mates and parents of the infected puppy before the infection spread to other dogs in the community. The RCMP assisted BHR in finding the pup's parents who were abused, neglected and starved porch dogs. The photo's demonstrate the horrifying condition of Jerry, the father who produced this sick litter.

Both parents are now under veterinary supervision where the male will be shaved today under anaesthetic.

This family is on the road to recovery and will never know another day of abuse, starvation and neglect thanks to the support of the RCMP, Pacific Coastal Airlines, volunteers, veterinarians, foster homes and Big Heart Rescue.

Update: January

On January 5th Jerry was shaved, neutered and had a hernia repaired.  He will make a full recovery now that he is safe from the horror's of his past and will find a new and loving home. His mate Gracie has now found herself the most wonderful new family who reside on Gabriola Island.  She has a sister who is teaching her how to play and the salt air is doing a world of good for her stress level. Now its Jerry's turn!

Update: January

Fun loving Jerry is feeling like a million bucks and amazes his foster Mom with the amount of energy and antics he has in a day.  Jerry is doing very well with his house training and gets along well with the other dogs in the house.  Jerry has told us he is ready for a family of his own who will spoil him, love him and adore him.

Update: February

Its hard to believe that such a short time ago Jerry looked like this and now a stunning boy has emerged who is showing off his handsome face to the world!

Thanks to a wonderful foster Mom, this sweet young man now knows to ask to go outside (well, most of the time) and has decided that being loved by a kind human is the best thing in the world.

Jerry has made a remarkable recovery and is a playful soul who is walking well on his leash and harness, finds bugs very amusing and is a super friendly fellow with all other companions.

It is time for Jerry's new family to find him and bring them into their loving arms to be safe, warm and content for the rest of his life.

Update: March

Yippee, Jerry has a home!
