Keon !

Keon is one of three little black and white puppies who have just come into the care of Big Heart Rescue and will be heading to the vets on March 10th. His brothers are Vezina and Mikita.

Our best guess is that they are approximately 8 to 10 weeks of age, are well socialized and are your typical, happy go lucky piles of fun!

We know the Mom is a 60 pound Husky x and because of their coloring we think the Father might have been a black Lab mix, but we are not certain of this, so its difficult to determine what their size as an adult will be.

Once at the vets they will have a physical, be de-wormed, de-flead and have their first set of vaccinations.

The puppies are all currently fostered together on Vancouver Island and are now accepting applications for adoption.

Update: March 10

Our beautiful healthy puppies have now been de-wormed, vet checked and vaccinated.  Other than being a little under-weight the vet declares these babies to be healthy and handsome!

They are quickly learning their house training, what regular meals are all about and what life feels like to be so well loved.

This is what the boys' foster Mom has to say about Keon:

Update: March 16th

From all the boys:

Our foster Mom tells us that you are the one working to find us families to belong to.  We thought we’d let you know what we do at our foster home.  We are happy happy happy!

We have  a routine with our foster family and our furry foster brother and so we know how to act around here.  Mostly we play, play and play with our family in our big back yard.  There is some grass there, but also some bushes and trees and fir cones and sticks to find.  We figured out that we can chase each other under a little tree and that is so fun!  We can also find private places to do our business, and we like that.

Our foster brother was such a stick-in-the mud (did he not ever play when he was little?), but now we can sit beside him and sniff him!  He sometimes gives up when we steal his sticks, too!  This morning he joined in chasing Mikita who had the best ball!  Sometime our foster cat comes by and checks us out.   Oh wow we would like to sniff him, but we’re not sure about that because he gets all puffy when we think about that.  It’s weird.  One time our foster horse came by.  We just sat a long way away and stared, and our foster Mom told us that was good, but wow, that was amazing -- how could a creature be so big?

Inside we sometimes have our family cuddle and play with us.  Other times they do their kitchen stuff or sleep and we’re supposed to be quiet in our own special area.  We think we can do that really well!  And we know our names!  Sometimes our family calls us and that means good stuff: we’re going to get a treat – if we sit quietly.

Vezina always sits and looks at our people really well!  We can do that too – we’re smart too!  Keon always looks really proud when he comes.  Mikita likes to jump up because the treat will be closer then, but then he remembers he’s supposed to be all still like Vez and Keon!

We’ve met some cool people who know our family.  They always like to cuddle and play with us and we say, “yay!”  They all smell different, which is really interesting.  The little girls and boys who come act like our foster family kids, so we know what that’s all about, and we like everybody!

Our foster Mom tells us we’re getting big and that our coats are getting shinier and nice to touch.  Vezina has some cool grey fur you can see. We like to chew on stuff because that feels good.  We try not to gnaw on hands, but sometimes that’s hard – maybe those chewy toys we’re given at that moment are okay, because our people keep telling us that.  Sometimes it’s just too fun to have a go at ripping up our pee pad, though!  (We don’t use it very much for anything else because unless we really, really can’t wait, we like to go in our smelly place outside.)

Our family keeps telling us we’re such good boys.  Even if we have fun with each other we like to check in with our people a lot, so having our own people families would feel really, really good!

Lots of love and puppy breath kisses, Keon, Vezina and Mikita

PS: This is how much we weigh now, at approximately 10 weeks of age, so we think we are going to be BIG boys!

Mikita 16 lbs
Keon 15 lbs
Vezina 14 lbs
