Leo !

I found myself running alone and was very afraid of everyone who tried to help me.  Finally a kind man caught me and put me in his truck.  I had never been in a truck and this was so scary!

He then took me to a place called the Chilliwack Animal Control.  Oh, there are so many dogs there that barked and cried, I just didn't know what to do so I stayed in the back of my kennel and wished that someone would come and save me.

I was too afraid to eat very much and I wouldn't look anyone in the eye because something bad might happen but you know what, a nice lady from Big Heart Rescue came and took me out of that place and brought me to a wonderful home that has a Foster Mom to look after me.

She told me I was a good boy, a brave boy and that all my yesterdays were behind me now.  My foster Mom said that I am a pure breed Maremma, about 14 months old but I don't remember when my birthday is.  This other lady that is called a dog trainer came and spent some time with me on the grass in the sunshine and oh, did that feel good!

The dog trainer said I was shy and that I am handsome, that I need to gain some weight and when I have put on some pounds I can go to the vets and be neutered, what ever that means.

I can tell you its so nice to be in a house with other fur friends who like to play and who like me as much as I like them.  We go out together in the yard, sniff the grass, lay down by the big plum tree and watch the clouds roll by.

There is a photographer coming to take some new pictures of me and once she does they will be on the website really quick.

I would really like to find a loving family of my own pretty soon.  My foster Mom asked me what I would like in a family and I told her, someone who is home most of the day because I get lonely, someone who has a nice yard with a big fence because this makes me feel safe and someone who has done research into my very special breed so that they can understand me.

If you think you might be my new family please ask Gail for an application at spiritsmission@shaw.ca  and I know she will send you one as quick as can be.

Thank you CAC, BHR, my trainer and my foster Mom for helping me to understand what love is!

Update: 3 August

Well, won't you look at me now!  In just a few short days at my Foster Mom's house I have learned that everything is going to be okay, and while I am still shy I went to a fun BBQ at Spanish Banks with lots of other dogs and we had a great day.

I am feeling so much better and I think my belt is getting a little tight, so I must have put on a few pounds now which means it won't be long before I am neutered, hum...  I still don't know what that means!

Riding in the car to Spanish Banks was so much fun and I didn't get car sick once, so I think I will make a great travel companion.  It was interesting to see all the stop lights, the noisy cars and watch out the window while people walked by.

Yep, I think that all my tomorrow's will get better and better.

Love Leo

Update: September 4th

A wonderful lady named Liz came and took my pictures the other day and you know what, she said I was the best model she has ever had!

Yep, that's me, a model and I can't believe that I was once alone and scared and now, wow I am a star!
