Winnie!
Winston (male) and Winnie (female) are thought to be approximately 1.5 years of age and have been abandoned in a remote community. Currently they are feeding at the local dump and are in desperate need of assistance.
We hope to have them flown into our arms on Sunday where they will go directly to the vets office to have their sterilization/vaccinations, shaving, de-worming, parasite control, tattoo and microchipping.
We are uncertain as to their breed mixture, but they might be a Poodle - Schnauzer cross. We know little about their personalities at this time other than they are sweet natured and do get along with other dogs.
Update on Winnie: Nov 7th
Winnie has now been fully vetted and is adjusting to life as an indoor girl. She has been shaved and is sporting a beautiful new jacket to keep her warm until her full grey coat comes back in. At this time our "little" girl weighs in at 37 pounds and should weigh around 30, so she is beginning her "Jenny Craig" program soon. Her healthy eating plan coupled with gentle walks will get her physically fit in no time at all!
Winnie
is house trained and has shown no interest in cats. She did take a few days to
be comfortable in the house with the other dogs and now she is seeking them out
for play time! When she first meets new people she can be some what shy but
warms up quickly, even with the vet.
Her foster Mom states that Winnie has now sought out love, cuddles and affection from the humans in the house and she is happy to accept gentle pats, treats and stroking.
Because of Winnie's background as a garbage
dump dog it will take some time for her to adjust and feel confident so a
mandatory BHR recommended basic training program will be required to ensure a
strong bond with her new family begins and she is seeking a home with a quiet
family with older children or not children in the home.
